How Stephanie White will Help Caitlin Clark be Even Better in Year 2
Indiana Fever Head Coach Stephanie White has and will continue be a huge part of Caitlin Clark’s development, what can we expect in year 2 from both of them?
After a great year for the Indiana Fever, the fever did fire Christie Sides, which was a little surprising because of the success of the fever. So then the Fever decided to hire Stephanie White which was a fantastic hire.
The Indiana Fever has a star named Caitlin Clark who won Rookie of the Year and took the Fever to the playoffs as well. Stephanie White has been coaching for a while now and now she gets to coach Star player Clark. After such a great season for Clark, her expectations are already going to be bigger than it was because of making the playoffs, and winning ROTY. Now White will have the chance to coach Clark at the highest level, win playoff series, and potentially win MVP.
White wants Clark to be stronger, and more physical in the paint. That is something that I think White will coach Clark better at because it was something that Clark didn't do as strongly as she wanted to. A lot of people said that Clark wasn’t that strong last year compared to the greats playing in the WNBA, and I think we are going to see a motivated coach plus Clark get stronger physically and mentally, and I think that is important.
Another aspect that I think White will help Clark with is that she is going to help her develop mid-rangers even better than last year, because if White can develop that, then Clark could get the MVP. There was some talk on Clark on how she only shoots threes and I Believe White will have Clark shoot mid-rangers this upcoming season as well.
Either way, it’s going to be a fun season with Clark and White, it might take some time for the two of them to adjust and Clark will adjust to how White coaches, and it could be a little uncomfortable in the beginning because it does take some time to develop a new playbook and a new person coaching.
Clark and the Indian Fever had a disappointing end in the playoffs, so I would expect a motivated team, and also a new head coach on top of that to be extra motivated to have a strong start to the season because expectations with Clark and White already have big expectations because they did have a good offseason as well.
Having a coach come in being extra motivated, especially coaching a player like Clark and the way the Indian Fever season ended last year, I believe we will see a motivated coach and star heading into the season this year.
